What Is Dr. Pol Doing Now? Reveals New Project with Son Charles Pol

For more than a decade, Dr. Jan Pol was one of the most recognizable veterinarians on television. Viewers watched him handle emergency farm calls, packed clinic schedules and unpredictable animal cases throughout rural Michigan. His practical personality, incredible energy and straightforward sense of humor helped turn The Incredible Dr. Pol into one of Nat Geo WILD’s most successful programs.

Although his long-running television series has ended, Dr. Pol has not disappeared from public life. He remains connected to veterinary medicine, continues working on family projects with his son Charles Pol and has expanded his business through new pet-care and nutrition products.

Why Did The Incredible Dr. Pol End?

The Incredible Dr. Pol concluded in July 2024 after 24 seasons and approximately 250 episodes. The final celebration looked back at memorable cases and featured Dr. Pol, his wife Diane and their son Charles reflecting on the show’s remarkable 13-year run.

The series premiered in 2011 and followed the veterinarians and employees of Pol Veterinary Services in Weidman, Michigan. Unlike many polished reality programs, it showed the unpredictable and sometimes chaotic reality of rural veterinary medicine.

Dr. Pol treated everything from household pets to cows, horses, pigs, goats and other farm animals. His willingness to respond to difficult cases at almost any hour became one of the show’s defining features.

The ending was not presented as Dr. Pol being fired or retiring because of a personal controversy. Instead, the series appears to have reached a natural conclusion after an unusually successful run.

Dr. Pol had previously indicated that he was willing to continue working and filming. However, television networks regularly adjust their programming, even when a show still has a loyal audience. After 24 seasons, National Geographic ultimately brought the original series to an end.

Despite the cancellation, older episodes remain available through streaming services, reruns and digital platforms. The show continues to attract viewers who are discovering Dr. Pol and his veterinary team for the first time.

Is Dr. Pol Still Working as a Veterinarian?

Dr. Pol remains closely connected to Pol Veterinary Services, the clinic he and Diane founded in 1981. The practice is still operating in Weidman and continues treating both household pets and large farm animals.

His exact daily schedule is not publicly known, so it is unclear whether he still handles the same demanding workload viewers saw on television. At the height of the series, Dr. Pol regularly worked extremely long days and traveled throughout the surrounding area to treat animals on farms.

Now that he is no longer filming a television show, he appears to have moved into a more flexible stage of his career. He remains involved in animal care while also focusing on education, family projects, online content and business ventures.

Dr. Pol has never publicly announced a full retirement from veterinary medicine. Instead, his current lifestyle appears to be a gradual transition from nonstop television production and clinical work into a broader role as a veterinarian, mentor and animal-care entrepreneur.

Dr. Pol’s New Projects With His Son Charles

One of the Pol family’s biggest recent projects was The Incredible Pol Farm, a television spinoff centered on Charles Pol, his wife Beth and their growing family.

The show followed the family as they attempted to transform approximately 350 acres of undeveloped Michigan property into a functioning farm. Dr. Pol appeared throughout the series, offering practical advice, veterinary assistance and farming knowledge.

The project gave viewers a different look at the Pol family. Instead of focusing primarily on emergency clinic cases, the spinoff explored farming, construction, family life and the challenges of building something from the ground up.

Charles has remained active in producing content connected to the Pol family brand. He has worked behind the scenes for years and served as one of the executive producers of The Incredible Dr. Pol.

After the farm spinoff, the family continued sharing updates through an online video series called Footage From the Farm. The videos feature everyday life on Charles and Beth’s property, including caring for sheep, preparing beehives, repairing fences and teaching their children about animals.

Dr. Pol occasionally appears in the farm videos when his veterinary experience is needed. The project acts as a smaller and more personal continuation of the family’s television work.

Charles and Beth also hosted the Incredi-Pol Cast podcast. The podcast featured discussions about the farm, family life and the production of The Incredible Pol Farm. Dr. Pol and Diane also appeared in some episodes.

However, no new season of the podcast has recently been confirmed. For now, YouTube and social media appear to be the family’s most active platforms for sharing new video content.

Dr. Pol’s Major New Product Launch

One of Dr. Pol’s most important recent business projects is the launch of Dr. Pol Clinical Nutrition, a new collection of non-prescription dog food designed for animals with specific dietary concerns.

The product line launched exclusively through Walmart in March 2026. It was developed as a more accessible alternative to some of the expensive specialized diets that are usually available only through veterinary clinics.

The collection includes formulas for weight management, food sensitivities and gastrointestinal care. The products are sold in both 7-pound and 24-pound bags.

The Weight Management formula is made with salmon and is designed for adult dogs that need help maintaining a healthier weight. It contains fewer calories than many standard dry foods, along with additional fiber intended to help dogs feel satisfied after eating.

The formula also includes protein to help dogs maintain lean muscle while controlling their calorie intake.

The Food Sensitivities collection includes hydrolyzed chicken, salmon and plant-based recipes. These formulas use simplified ingredients and alternative protein sources for dogs that may experience reactions to certain foods.

Hydrolyzed protein is broken into smaller components, which may make it easier for some dogs to digest. However, owners should still speak with a veterinarian before changing the diet of a dog with a diagnosed allergy or medical condition.

The Gastrointestinal Care formulas are available in chicken and beef recipes. They include digestible ingredients, multiple types of fiber and probiotics intended to support digestion, regularity and a balanced gut environment.

The products are formulated to provide complete and balanced nutrition for adult dogs. However, they are nutritional products rather than medications and should not replace professional veterinary treatment.

Dr. Pol has explained that the idea behind the line came from watching pet owners struggle with the rising cost and limited availability of specialized dog food. His goal was to create practical products inspired by his decades of veterinary experience.

The launch expands the wider Dr. Pol product brand, which already includes regular pet foods, limited-ingredient recipes, treats, grooming products, animal-care supplies, farm feed and branded merchandise.

Could The Incredible Dr. Pol Return?

As of 2026, there has been no official announcement confirming Season 25 or a revival of The Incredible Dr. Pol. There is also no confirmed second season of The Incredible Pol Farm.

Still, another television project is not impossible. Dr. Pol remains internationally recognized, older episodes continue attracting viewers and Charles is still involved in producing animal and farm-related content.

The family’s continued activity on YouTube also shows that they have not completely stepped away from entertainment. A reunion special, streaming series or another farm-centered spinoff could potentially happen in the future.

However, restarting the original show would be more complicated. The series required long filming schedules, emergency calls and constant access to the veterinary clinic. At Dr. Pol’s current age, a smaller and more controlled production may be more realistic than returning to the exact format of the original program.

For now, Dr. Pol’s life after television looks less like retirement and more like reinvention. He remains connected to veterinary medicine, supports Charles and Beth’s farm, appears in online videos and continues expanding his animal-care business.

While fans may miss seeing him on television every week, Dr. Pol is still finding new ways to educate animal owners and remain involved with the audience that followed him for more than a decade.
