Kirby, a 6 ½-year-old American Lineback-Holstein cross steer, held a special place in Dr. Brenda’s heart, serving as a valued member of her oxen team. His passing leaves a void not only in the team but also in the lives of his fellow ox, Reid, his companion Zeiter, and his devoted “Mom,” Dr. Brenda Grettenberger, along with her family.
The heartbreaking incident occurred when Kirby fell victim to a car accident while peacefully grazing in his pasture. His fatal injuries serve as a poignant reminder of the importance of adhering to stop signs and traffic signals for the safety of all, including our animal companions.
In tribute to Kirby’s memory, he has been laid to rest on Dr. Brenda’s family farm in Eaton Rapids. May his gentle spirit continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Rest in peace, Kirby. 🙏❤️
